The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be serving in both individual contributor and a mentorship roles. You will provide senior-level mechanical engineering design, development, analysis, and project support for airborne opto-mechanical payload systems. You will be part of an Integrated Product Team (IPT) leading the mechanical design effort and working with cross-functional staff to develop mechanical sub-system solutions for mixed-constraint systems; (e.g. cost, manufacturing, optical, electrical, thermal, and reliability). In this role you will be a subject matter expert (SME) for all aspects of mechanical design and analyses from concept through manufacture. This will include use of analytic tools such as Solidworks, Creo, and ANSYS to conduct FEA, CFD, tolerance analyses, thermal analyses, and trade studies; and to develop these core competencies with other engineering staff.
Qualification:
+ High proficiency with CAD system tools (Solidworks, Creo, ANSYS, etc.)
+ Proficient in GD&T per ASME Y14.5 plus tolerance analyses capability
+ Solid understanding of structural composite analysis.
+ Experience with a multitude of manufacturing processes, (e.g. machining, sheet metal, plastic injection molding, plastic thermoform, metal injection molding, wire EDM, water-jet cutting, etc.)
+ Experience with electro-mechanical and opto-mechanical system design constraints
+ Broad experience in developing component and assembly specifications, and interface control drawings
+ Experience with development of verification, validation, and acceptance test protocols
+ Project leadership experience with budgeting and scheduling estimation
+ Product Life Cycle (PLC), lean product development and related SRR, PDR, and CDR stage gates
+ Broad experience with Engineering Change Order (ECO) processes
+ Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
+ Must have a positive attitude and enjoy working in collaboration with project team members
+ Must be able to work in a hands-on lab or production environment guiding other team members in development of prototype systems and initial product assemblies
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to present information to various audiences
+ Demonstrated ability to multi-task and meet committed deadlines

Education: BS degree in Optical, Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or Physics with emphasis on optical design and analyses; w/7+ years of experience, MS w/ 5+ years of experience or PhD w/ 3+ years of experience.
